Well, you've aced the socks, but very disappointed in the lack of red dicing on the bonnet band........
(I do like the rear rank guy with the intra-venous bag of whisky!)

Of all the things I hate painting, Highlander socks are definitely right at the top of my list!BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 9:29 amWell, you've aced the socks, but very disappointed in the lack of red dicing on the bonnet band........

I'm just doing the second lot of socks now...BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 6:45 pm Don't say that - at a quick glance it actually looks like you've done the cross-over squares a darker red, which is damned impressive at that size. Not much room on a 15mm sock!!!
Poor show by the regimental clothier (or a cheapskate Colonel.....). So are they the 77th or the 78th?
Ah, that explains the lack of consistency in pipers' uniforms. Cheers Fred!FreddBloggs wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 8:23 pm Pipers were paid out of the colonels money, so hiw whim on uniform (not offivcial musicians).
The green is interesting in that green dyd of the 1700s, goes a mustard brown/buff colour with age. So a green flag. 100 years later hanging in its church will have changed colour.
Always use contempory paintings if possible.
