It's been VERY quiet on the wargaming and painting front for me this year, but I'm catching up on the blog with all the stuff I did last year, starting with some units for the SYW; namely some Regiments of Horse, Dragoon Guards and Dragoons for the British and some Swiss and heavy artillery for the French:

Fantastic figures and excellent painting, so tempted to paint some Eureka 18mm figures.

Always a pleasure. It's a very pretty collection.

Thanks fellas!
But will someone please take Willz's credit card away from him while I hold him down! He's already got 20mm, 28mm AND flats! It's for his own good!

Those British mounted units look like they could do some serious damage! I've often wondered if the SYW contingent had more cavalry than either Marlborough or Wellington - I suspect that Beaky probably just sneaks it (by a nose!).

I'm having deja-vu here... Didn't we have this conversation a couple of months ago via PM?!BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 10:29 pm Those British mounted units look like they could do some serious damage! I think it was the WAS for the win?

Found the discussion... There were at least 27 sqns and possibly as many as 32 sqns at Fontenoy, which was more than the WSS and possibly more than the SYW, where 29 squadrons (plus a small det of the 18th LD) were deployed. However, the Peninsular War is at another level; there were 59 British squadrons at Vitoria alone (including 9 KGL sqns), even before you count the Portuguese, Spanish, Brunswickers, Sicilians and whatever else was floating around Portugal and Spain.BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 10:29 pm Those British mounted units look like they could do some serious damage! Well done, mate. We seem to have a taste for the same units. Or is it because you've built every British unit, including the 1st Sanitary Company (aka The "Blowflies")?
If "The System" is the answer, who asked such a bloody stupid question?
