BTW, there's a curlicue on the reverse, just the the upper left of the crown, that appears to be back to front. RMD would notice that.

I think both regiments are going to have to be added to my collection...

Thank you! :-) I'm afraid the standard was made in a cheap back steet flag manufacturer's in Shoreditch, just off Gin Alley, and when all the staff are permanently "in their cups" inevitably mistakes creep in. ;-)

Cheers,

David.

Right; here's a low resolution snapshot of the completed sheet for the Groom of the Stool's Own flags. The high resolution sheet is too big to be uploaded here. I shall send you it via Facebook Messenger. I must now return to the sane world of flag commissions (for money!!) as I have a couple to complete! I have added the French standard to my list but cannot promise when I will be able to create it...

Enjoy! And I hope to see both standards in use with your troops... :-)

Cheers,

David.

I think I know the one. Still, it could have been worse- they may have sewn the standard when they were (comparatively) sober. Getting a decent picture of a blue-arsed fly, for the 2nd Company's standard, may be a bit of a challenge, though.

PS. Excellent work, mate. I think the guidon says "stool" quite eloquently.

If "The System" is the answer, who asked such a bloody stupid question?

:-) True; although I don't think anyone has ever seen them do sober work so it's all a bit theoretical... They do provide a very useful service for the dodgier regiments, providing replacement flags for units that have lost them in disgraceful ways so they can pretend they never did lose them - or providing pre-tattered enemy flags so that units can claim, no, we were not actually looting the enemy baggage train, we were heroically defeating the Gardes Francaises (or similar)... ;-)

Glad you like the flags; thanks!

Cheers,

David.
