In 6mm they are always moulded to the rider. None of yer fancy shading fer me, slap of paint, mains, tails, use a marke pen for the tack, finished. And it is a well known fact that heavy cavalry and foot artillery use dark coloured horses and light cavalry and foot artillery use dark coloured horses.

He's having a go at me because I like to paint the underside of my Gateway bases. A pale green is quite nice.

I write the name of the regiment and the date it was raised on the underside of the base. Green baize would be classy but might be a bit dark perhaps? Good to know that there's a kindred spirit out there.

The Gateway cavalry don't move far enough to need beize under their bases.

I tend to follow the advice of Dr. Micheal Phillip Jagger, RS, and paint it black.
I get lockdown, but I get up again.

You have to paint the underside of MDF bases to stop them absorbing moisture anyway. Mine are all kinds of colours depending on the army and whether they need to be seen, labelled or just identify what they are when stuck into foam for transportation.
