There you go again, off on another one of your geographical jaunts. I'm surprised you haven't drowned going from South Fambridge as it's over the other side of the River Crouch to Burnham and there are no bridges. However, North Fambridge is on the right side and the roads are almost Roman in their straightness. The reason I know this...I lived in Althorne for a while and once walked from North Fambridge to Althorne. This is why the drunken locals were laughing.

In your defence,, I will give you that after Althorne the road to Burnham has a few kinks in it...walked that one as well, and back along the railway line.

Actually, I wasn't thinking of one of the Fambridge's but rather South Woodham Ferrers. To be fair, it only takes a few minutes to drive from SFam to the bridge at Battlesbridge, and there are 14 ninety degree turns between SWF and Burnham and it's only ten miles. What were the Romans thinking?
