Interesting that the only genuine German in all of this is the surviving head of the Jacobites.....

Franz, Grand Duke of Bavaria. who - being childless - will be succeeded by his brother, Max, and then via the latter's eldest daughter Sophie, by her first-born, Joseph, who also happens to be the first Jacobite to be born in the British Isles - London, 1995 - for over 300 years.

Buying? Being very tempted to have a go at the Wargames Atlantic plastic 95th Rifles, especially as I have been rereading the Sharpe novels for light relief.

If you haven’t already read it you should have a look at C S Forester’s Death to the French (sometimes less starkly known as Rifleman Dodd)

See, more bloody European interference. Trial by combat, you know it makes sense.

If Germany had been properly dismembered in 1918, Hannover would have been occupied under British law. You want your damn Sialic law, start digging trenches.

I seem to remember that Crown Prince Ruprecht of Bavaria formally annulled the line of succession sometime between WW1 and WW2. He is however, a fun option to include as a German-backed Jacobite force for VBCW.

The current Grand Duke's personal representative has indicated that he has no interest in pursuing the claim, but that sounds a bit like the Argies actually signing a treaty renouncing all claims to the Falkland Islands back in the 1950s, and then never mentioning that treaty ever again. When Gordon Brown promised to repeal the Act of Settlement of 1701, barring Roman Catholics from the throne, it was mooted that Franz would be entitled to succeed, but his representative said the Duke had laughed at the idea and was entirely happy being Grand Duke of Bavaria and curating his modern art collection. When he dies, his successor will be his younger brother Max, but as he has only daughters, the next in line is their first cousin, Prince Luitpold. Who is CEO of a brewing company - König Ludwig GmbH & Co. KG Schlossbrauerei Kaltenberg, which brews, amongst other concoctions, Konig Ludwig Weissbier.

The Wittelsbachs were virulently anti-Nazi and Franz and his parents ended up in a concentration camp (several, in fact, first Sachsenhausen, then Flossenburg, and finally Dachau).
