Don't let them try crossing the border at night. I've done the Hebden Bridge to Burnley trip and that's vampire country. Still some of that lot look a lot like the independent ladies who live in Hebden.

Hebden Bridge, like most other locations round there, was a mill town. These days it is full of interesting independent cafes and some rather chi-chi shops, It sounds like a local authorities renewal dream but sometimes feels a bit weird against the background of workers' terraces and Methodist churches. It exerts a rather inexplicable draw for the LGBT crowd. I blame the late Derek Bridges, the renowned flower arranger.

HB is a really odd place. I went there with the boys for scout camp etc, and the pubs were... really odd.
