You don't see them in many (any?) wargames armies, but there were a lot of them! The YG squadrons of the 2nd Guard Lancers in 1813 also look VERY similar to the short-lived 3rd Guard Lancers in 1812 and the Eclaireur-Lancers of 1814, so they're pretty useful.

I've never found any info on the YG squadrons of the 1st Guard Lancers though.

The YG squadrons of the Grenadiers a Cheval and Empress' Dragoons basically wore the same uniform as their old guard comrades, but without the aurore aiguilettes (just the padded epaulettes) and probably the single-breasted surtout rather than the lapelled coatee.

Three Eureka Miniatures mounted Austrian figures to make up a proper Command base for my FRW Austrian Light Cavalry Brigade. After all the Casting Room Miniatures' SYW figures of late they are proving quite challenging resulting in slow progress. That will be it then until after Christmas, then it's some Dixon Miniatures' ACW Sussex Light Dragoons I think. Happy Christmas!

Nice. I've always liked 1790s Austrians. No more successful than other era Austrians, but very stylish in a simple, understated sort of way.

The Austrians biggest issue was a good army, but lacked flair at the command level.

The bugler looks like the guy in green has just told a particularly obscene joke which the guy in white is pretending not to have heard.

Lovely painting Penda, no idea how you get that much character into such small faces. I can’t get that much expression into my own face…

Which wasn't helped by the high attrition rate amongst their officers, including a lot of their more dynamic ones; a condition that my SYW Austrians also suffer from!

My workbench is currently all about scratchbuilding 15mm sci-fi buildings and stuff
