That would explain Mark Phillips.
When I was in The Met, I worked at several visits by the good lady Princess Anne. Apparently, she sometimes asked the paid workers their names etc. So I was always placed far far away so that she wouldn't get to speak to me.

Don't worry, I had a client in the late eighties who would cend me to the project with the biggest security risk whenever the CEO came to visit. I had apparently got drunk one night and mooned him when he told me to behave.

Actually it was, well she had heard his name and Gaynors entwined. So they ensured he was otherwise occupied, not mucking out the stables for once.

I met her when doing work for British Steel in the early 90s. They had just released a range of "Wrinkly tin" construction products for the agricultural community and, for some unknown reason, asked her to launch it. When shown the colour palette that farmers could choose from when designing their barns etc, she remarked: "Well, that shit brown right there will really please my big brother!"

Another Princess Anne anecdote - my boss at BAe was ex-Life Guards and was mucking out at the Hyde Park Barracks one day when he heard what he assumed was one of the younger lads swearing mightily. Aware that civilian visitors were passing to and fro, he gave the time-honoured "Oi! Mind your fuckin' language!" response only to discover it was herself. Soon after, he was transferred to the Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards where he ended up commanding a tank filled with what he told me were "the only actual Irishmen in the entire regiment".
