Army Painter Oak and Army Painter Strong Tone. Quickest way to get realistic looking Zulu skin. They tend to be darker than Xhosas, etc so this works well

I've been playing with the decals we got printed. There were a couple of issues, like a misaligned print on one sheet (which was replaced for free) and me cramming the decals too close together. But overall they worked well. They're reasonably thin, opaque and sharp enough to read 0.3mm census numbers. They're a lot better than my home-made jobs. It's a pity that much of them will disappear under weathering (if/when I get around to it). The star decals are from I-94 https://i-94enterprises.com and highly recommended.

Is it just me or does Guards Arm'd divisional insignia look like the eye of Sauron?

Something odd I noticed with these Perry Zulus. The different shade of plastic. The lighter one also seems to have less defined sharpness of mould? The resilience is the same. Seems to be just the one box, and all bought at the same time. It’s also lighter than all the other Perry plastics I’ve built and painted (of which I’ve done several hundred)

Thanks, gents. It's something I can do while watching the telly and the missus doesn't grouse about paint stains on the furniture.

Different shades on different sprues is common with most plastic figures/kits, mate, but it's usually more subtle than that. The different levels of detail may be an optical illusion. Give both an undercoat, Jeremy, and then see if there's a difference?
