Here we go. Andy will now explain in detail why you can't possibly use the same figures for both.

I’ve read accounts of mixed kit in almost all their campaigns. There were apparently sightings of some of the green uniforms at Crete

A useful overview from 'Mick in Switzerland'. https://www.artizandesigns.com/guides/F ... gerWW2.pdf Most of the bigger changes seem to have been after Crete, which of course may in part have been forced upon the FJ by the huge losses there.

I’m also using MG42’s as MG34’s and some of the smocks aren’t technically correct for the period. Hopefully all of these will offend your sensibilities so outrageously that you won’t be able to sleep for weeks!

Wait till you see they’re taking part in a totally fictitious and silly campaign centered around capturing a black pudding recipe for a super soldier program! I’m sure I’ll hear the screams incoherent outrage here in Lancashire!

Not likely 😂 silly campaigns? Brilliant idea. Love them.

I'm a firm believer in fudging accuracy in the interests of playability. My Early War Germans can expect to see service anywhere from Poland, France and the Netherlands through the Balkans into Russia.

Ancients? Sui or Tang? Who knows. Hairy Barbarians can be Goths, Frank's, or Alemanni. And another lot are 'Celts', Galatians, Britons, Caledones or Gauls. My late Republican Romans will likely be doing double duty as Caesarians.

And as for Napoleonics.. Well, a French infantryman in a shako fits in almost anywhere. Purists should look away.

For FJ I have two sets of figures (as yet unpainted) they will be 'Early', in the grey green and MG34, and 'Late', with MG42 and camo. If I were especially profligate with my painting time, I would do an Italy/Sicily version and a winter, 'Bulge' version as well.

I largely subscribe to Matt Slade’s view. They’re only tokens. May as well use Space Marines.
