Chaps,

Can I prevail upon your kind generosity and ask if anybody coming this year has desert battle mats or even sand coloured bed sheets they could assist with, that would be great. Also does anybody have a water mat or some means of representing a body of water that would be sufficient to act as a harbour. Jamie has all the harbour bits and he has kindly offered to provide those.

Simon, if you could spare some of your Sandgrave terrain that would be excellent.

I'd be mighty obliged for your help on this.

Tim, I can bring a desert mat and a Sicily mat. I can also bring cacti areas, hills, trees, roads, desert scrub and other scatter terrain

I’ll also bring a selection of civilians, might be useful for scenarios.

Is every table going to be desert themed, Tim? Do I need to bring trees or shall I leave them at home?

I have a lot of desert mats, if you don't mind orange rather than white sands :D
I'll sling em in in case they're needed.
I was going to start work on an making a small archaeological site today as well if that's still wanted?

A cheap and cheerful way to make water mats is to nip down the local carpet and floor sales room. Check out either lino or floor tiles, blue colour is best but not essential. Paint the lino / floor tiles blue / dirty harbour water colour. When dry paint over several coats of gloss yacht varnish.
I made flooded areas for a Normandy game using old light brown floor tiles, done by this method.
