Zulus using Black Powder

Over the years, we've used several rule sets for fighting the Zulu wars. Generally, these have not been entirely successful for the level of play we prefer - larger games. After successfully adopting Black Powder for our big Sudan show game, we decided to return to Zululand for a big battle. Yesterd...

Re: Valleyboy's ECW Project

Not exactly about VB's excellent work but I have a question about ECW flags. With regard to size, I'm guessing there wasn't some regulation laid down that gave exact dimensions, that was carefully followed? I have only one unit still awaiting a flag (Covenanter dragoons), so even if I'm told somethi...

Re: My Dragon Rampant

Thanks, gents. I *am* enjoying painting these Fantasy figures. However, the 40 or so point force I raise will end up on Ebay if me &/or the group decide Fantasy isn't for us. I may, regardless, paint the other half of the boxes I've bought - there's loads of figures in a 1/72 box - & sell th...

Re: My Dragon Rampant

I wouldn't want to be the kerrniggitt in the last photo! Most of us in our little group have 'Lion Rampant' retinues & enjoy the game. I haven't gamed Dragon Rampant yet but I have read the rules closely. Apart from the magical element, there's not a lot of difference between the two rule sets....

My Dragon Rampant

These 4 trolls join my wizard as the start of a Dragon Rampant force. They are Dark Alliance figures. I've never painted Fantasy before & I have enjoyed doing this. Additionally, I've been experimenting with Citadel contrast paint. It works well. https://i.postimg.cc/Dw2LdfwW/troll3.jpg https://...

Civilians

My wargaming tends to ignore the inconvenient truth of non-combatants/untrained civilians at the sharp end. The exception is a large formation of ECW clubmen, that I'm working on now. They're mostly Hinton Hunt figures - crude but with undeniable charm. In 'Victory without Quarter' they enter on the...
