Re: A painting analysis
Blimey Jeremy, you certainly have a lot of 'shades' to play with. You don't get that option with Humbrol: You generally have to mix each shade, generally using black, white or yellow (except when highlighting dark blue when you use light blue - white turns it grey for some reason) as the toner. Cons...

Re: Overhead archery
The key problem is that of visibility. If you can't see the target you can't judge range so you can't shoot. Also, given trajectory, the range would be only on the long side. I've never liked overhead fire because having been a toxophilist, I can't see how it was done to any great effect except at p...

Never go with curry sauce, because when she gets really excited she'll splash your shoes.

Re: Leeds Fiasco
First year, for decades, not. Usually put on a demo game, I even had one planned, but some group members are still having to shelter. Don't know that I'd fancy wearing a mask all day in any event. Might go to Vappa, depending on who from the LOGW is coming down from Scotland - haven't touched base w...

Battle Report with knobs on
OK, it's OTT, but sometimes I push the boat out. My blog was always intended to be a gamer's diary and this is the way I envisioned it for everything. Of course, this shit takes a lot of time that I frankly don't have most of the time but, once in a while I like to remind myself what the hell I was ...

Re: Mighty Lancer Games
Is it true that during the aforesaid mating rituals, you know when the local Brid girls get really excited because they drop their slice (with or without pineapple).
Or is that just a pizza gossip?

Stony banked stream, step by step.
I thought this came out quite well so here's a step by step to how I did it. Hope it's useful to someone. http://olicanalad.blogspot.com/2021/09/stoney-banked-stream-step-by-step.html https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OxJxQsvz4rI/YUdeBhxcvOI/AAAAAAAAPlQ/JIAKYPKkxq4Yav9zLrvLP9xnu6I-KVxDACNcBGAsYHQ/w640-h480...

Funny looking hills and stuff
Just posted a simple scenario for a Wednesday night Ilkley Lads game on my blog. It's for a TtS Crusades game. Thought you might like to have a laugh at my square hills and funny looking streams. http://olicanalad.blogspot.com/2021/09/a-stream-runs-through-it-raid-scenario.html To the Strongest! Tha...

Re: The vulnerability of horses
Somewhere out there, there is a long video that discusses medieval horses and their combat effectiveness. I can't remember the title now but basically, they are very hard to kill or bring down. The main problem with wounded horses is that distressed horses are less likely to respond to the bridle an...

Re: Lobositz
Great looking game. My favourite SYW battle. I found my photos of a visit to Lobositz. This is the the Lobosch. https://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HbOWC-K2xS4/S902jKZfqjI/AAAAAAAAAZk/lsCdnvmZ_YM/s1600/Picture+005.jpg I remember that day well, Mark. It was early in the year and the trees were largely leafle...
