Re: Ayton 15th-17th November 2024

Right oh. This is important....... I've had a chat with our leader, Mr Peeler, and we agree that it wouldn't be fair on other potential users of the village hall if we booked the hall now only to cancel later in the year. It's right and proper to have a cut off date for our deliberations so, if only...

Re: Airfix 1/76 Guards Colour Party

Well, given their year of original release, it should (just) be an SMLE. The SLR required a revised drill from the SMLE, mostly being carried at the "Order Arms" position, but the good old "Slo-hopah, Haaaams!" came back into fashion with the SA80. Blimey! I'm older than I thoug...

Re: Ayton 15th-17th November 2024

Thank you Mr P.

That's very reasonable considering the quality of the facilities, and there would be a 'free' game in the Lodge on the Friday.

When do we have to make a commitment on the hall?

Re: Ayton 15th-17th November 2024

Excellent.

I think the conversation with Peeler largely had us booking the hall in the first instant and swapping to the Lodge if numbers didn't meet the required level. The 'decision' one way or the other could be made later in the year (I'm thinking August).

Re: Airfix 1/76 Guards Colour Party

The re-release of these figures are going to piss ( sorry urinate ) on his parade. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/235522742797?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338722076&customid=&toolid=10050 I couldn't help noticing this caveat and thinking of EB..... COMPLETE WITH ...

Blimey. They're awesome.

A good point well made. You certainly can't accuse anyone of being a nutter for fine detailing.

Re: Ayton 15th-17th November 2024

This will probably boil down to the same discussion as last November.......to play at the Village Hall or the Lodge. Ten does indeed seem to be the magic number......that's ten people actually turning up of course.

Re: SYW French on the march

Stunningly gorgeous. I was going to wax lyrical about 1/72 plastic armies, but I see that the infantry at least are mostly metal Wodensfeld (and some Old John 'specials'). Iain The cavalry & artillery are all plastic - Revell, Zvesda & Red Box. No one makes French SYW so you have to improvi...
