Re: Jemima Fawr's Review of 2024

Re: Everyone's Blog Updates thread reminder

Hope y’all had a good Christmas and wishing you a Happy New Year! It’s been a while since I did one of these, so you might have missed my WWII kit getting a first outing back in April. https://myyearwithcharles.blogspot.com/2014/10/scenario-5-rear-guard-1.html https://i.postimg.cc/pV6dVVQH/0A51C7A2-...

Re: Surviving the Fram flood.

Ssssh, don’t wake him! Stu and I are enjoying a shared delusion in which we support a football team that’s not completely rubbish. Sorry about the flooding Tim, I hate it when that happens! Ma Dog also failed to indicate how bad it was in Suffolk, but then given she complains about the weather const...

Re: Bloody Big Battles

Yes, they are excellent at what they do. (Clue’s in the name.) Easy to learn, but very subtle in the execution. I’d give you more detail, but it’s an age since I played them. The website has plenty of AARs which will be a lot more helpful than canine rambling. Disclaimer: Chris Pringle is a mate of ...

TSS System 2000 or something like that. They’re one foot square and only an inch thick. Had them since the late 90s

Dog’s Double Dose of Napoleonics

Typical! You wait five months for a blog post and then two come along at once. Some enforced idleness has enabled me to get in a couple of 6mm Napoleonic games, now detailed on the blog. In one, the French plan a daring escape by sea. https://myyearwithcharles.blogspot.com/2023/02/scenario-6-rear-gu...

Great book. Have you read John Haldon's The Byzantine Wars as well?
Yep, some time ago. He convinced me it was ok to put archers in the same unit as spearmen like Charles Grant does, despite most rule sets disagreeing.

Spectacular! Plus I am currently reading Decker’s “The Byzantine Art of War”, so perfect visual accompaniment to that
