Re: 87th & 88th Highlanders for the SYW

Very pretty. Big fan of the basing. Iain Cheers EB, The basing is very simple. Just artists' mounting board (Dalerboard), stick 'em on with UHU glue, paint with thinned PVA, dip in Tesco play-sand, paint with Humbrol 29 Dark Earth, lightly brush with Humbrol 94 Sand and then paint patches with thin...

87th & 88th Highlanders for the SYW

No offence to any Scotsmen reading this, but God I hate Highlanders, with their stupid bare knees and irritating crissy-crossy bits! I've previously painted tartan for the AWI, Napoleonic Wars and even the VBCW, but these will be my last. I'd love to wargame the '45, but I think that might be the pa...

Re: What are people buying?

Two eyeshaddow blending brushes for £1.50 from the pound shop. Great dry brushing brushes for a lot less than branded stipple brushes. I have been buying UHU glue there for several years, sadly the tube has gone a bit smaller but still good value at a £1. Willz. And a fruity bouquet, excellent when...

Mark, the Grant books are certainly centred on scenarios that are carefully tailored for wargaming. Very useful. However, there's more. Taken in chronological order, they document the growth of his (+ family & friends) growth as a SYW wargamer. Bare bones at the beginning, they add all sorts of...

Re: What's on your workbench?

I've been doing a few more 6mm rebases from stuff that came from Paul and with added command and flags. I'm almost done for now (some command to do) so will be doing a big blog post soon. But in the meantime here's the last two Irish units... 20231202_175822_copy_1024x444_1.jpg 20231202_175835_copy...
