Re: What are people buying?

I've been away from my VBCW project for three years now, but the impending VBCW game at Partizan has renewed my interest. It also doesn't help that my glasses are in for repair at the moment, so I'm unable to paint 18mm Wellingtonics until they come back! :(

It seems that Footsore Miniatures (who took over the Musketeer Miniatures range since I last looked) have brought out some superb Women's Institute figures, as well as 'gardeners', bank workers in bowler hats and some character figures, all sculpted by the incomparable Paul Hicks. Order sent...

Very probably buying some of these:

I already have a force of revolting Scots, but these look very nice and I’m hoping he gets to do the Hanoverian oppressor as I’m short of decent figures.
I get lockdown, but I get up again.

Just purchased a Warlord Char B1 Bis platoon for £45 on eBay (normal price £60, Warlord discounted price £50). Hoping to pick up a set of Bolt Action French tank commanders from either the same source, or from the Warlord stand at Partizan. My wargaming mate David already has early war Germans. What A Tanker, here we come - just call me Capitaine Billote!

(For those wondering how the "extra" gun on the Char B1 works, apparently this year's TFL "Summer Special" will include an article on how to incorporate such tanks into the rules; ditto the M3 Lee/Grant and other multi-gunned monsters.)
Kein Plan überlebt den ersten Kontakt mit den Würfeln. (No plan survives the first contact with the dice.)

You’ve got to do ‘Fantastique’ - wasn’t that the one with the tree-painted camouflage?

Just ordered some more FPW Prussians from the Spencer Smith Shiny Toy Soldiers range. This time I got line in greatcoat, jagers and the other half of the cuirassiers I bought last time. Future plans include Bavarians, Wurttembergers, Brunswickers and maybe Turks. I'm fairly sure they can all be made up from the bits available. Not sure what to do about artillery though.

Photos of what I already have soon, just three more to paint for the first unit.
