Advice re selling SYW figures

Post by valleyboy »

Hi Gents
Just after a bit of advice
I responded to someone on farcebook who was looking for painted SYW figures
I know that I'm never going to use mine and need to rationalise and sell
I'm really not sure what is a reasonable sum to ask for a figure or unit and am looking for suggestions
Figures are almost all 28mm Crusader Miniatures

They are excellently painted, having sold painted figures on fleabay.
I would put them up for sale at a minimum of £8 a figure, maybe Minimum £6 a figure
if selling them in bulk. Maybe even start at £8 a figure, they are that good.
If you decide to sell them on fleabay, sell them in regimental lots. They would sell on fleabay.

A regiment of 24 figures at £6 a figure I would put up at staring bid of £144 with buy it now
at £210.

Totally agree .

Infantry minimum £8 a figure
Cavalry minimum £12 for horse and rider
Artillery minimum £8 a figure, £12 a gun, £8 a limber horse.

If somebody wants all the figures consider a 10-15% discount but don't get screwed on postage go for courrier buyer pays.

I did a quick count up of your figures and if I was selling this army £6500 is a good minimum starting price as a private sale.
Maybe £8000 it all depends on the buyer if someone commissioned this size army armies to this high standard £8000 would be good value for the work involved.

BTW fleabay prices start off lower but at times can go very high.

I think figures are never worth what you think they should be, we wargamers are cheapskates at heart. When I sell my surplus figures I start by thinking I've had the pleasure of painting and using them, but now I don't want them any more they are actually worth nothing to me. I sell on that principle, usually for more than I paid for the bare figure, but they are gone and both parties are content. Perhaps I'm odd but £8 a figure, £8000 a collection sounds like a recipe for no sale to me.
There is no point in being stupid if you don't show it!
