[WANTED] 28mm Napoleonic Band

Post by BaronVonWreckedoften »

OK, I'm looking for a 28mm (1/56 or thereabouts) full-size military band for use in a Napoleonic context. I'm planning to convert/paint them up as the band of the 1st Brunswick Line Battalion of 1815, formerly the court orchestra of "King Jerome of Westphalia" that was drafter pretty much en masse. I am aware of the Warlord Imperial Guard band, but it requires a superhuman level of conversion - something much (MUCH!!!) simpler would be appreciated. Ditto the British Infantry band produced by Minifigs - a little too small for my tastes.

I'm not aware of any manufacturer making a 3D Printed version, but if anybody knows of one......

I'd think MiniFigs do some band figures, maybe in the special/accessory range? Old Glory too I think.

Trent Miniatures have Bandsmen ~ French and British drum majors, big drummer, pack of four bandsmen with different instruments. Apart from Drum Major they have separate heads which might help your conversions. Trent do separate heads too. The band in the picture I assembled from those.
There is no point in being stupid if you don't show it!

There's also a Jingling Johnny figure. I've got an Austrian fifer which might be in catalogue.

I'd check out Front Rank (now Gripping Beast) too, as they have a decent number of single musicians, especially for Tricorne period....but they could simply be in a kind of older/traditional ceremonial dress??

Thanks, everyone - just to be clear, I'm not looking for drums/fifes/pipes (ie the "warlike" instruments), but an actual band - oboes, bassoons, etc.

@Penda - I did look at the Trent figures, but the conversion was too much work; thanks for the suggestion, though.

@ Jamanicus - can't find anything by Front Rank that fits the bill.

Have given up the idea of converting and instead will kidnap Alan Perry and keep him incarcerated until he sculpts one for me.
