That was hilarious!
Comrade General N’Dahwehlahweh’s deployment area was right under the guns of the Soviet embassy guard.
So I had to spend the first half of the game mowing down Russians while the actual scenario objectives were contested without me!
I secured the embassy only to have a Cuban intervention force pop up immediately behind me. Fortunately this coincided with an event card which enabled my faction to go off their heads with Juju chanting - yes, of course I had to chant for it to work - and in one frantic round made mincemeat of the Cubanos and Blackhawk Downed a Rhodieland gazelle with an RPG.
I allied with Buff following Paul’s entirely unprovoked strafing run on my sniper (who was minding his own business) and Buffs Anglians went in to seize all the key locations.
But the major player’s armoured vehicles cancelled each other out and it came down to who had the most boots on the ground in the governmental complex - which was undoubtedly Paul’s Rhodielanders.
I saw the writing on the wall, assured Buff that what he was seeing was emphatically NOT an abandonment... and abandoned him.
His Anglians made a daring helicopter rescue of President Mtumbi from the roof of government house, and called it a day.
Tomorrow, HMG and their steadfast Kumbayan allies who will definitely not abandon them, will attempt to oust the Rhodieland neocolonialist occupiers and restore the legitimate president.
Or, if anything untoward should happen to him, a suitable replacement.
