Cheers LT It'll be interesting to see if Smiths continue stocking it but as someone who hasn't played 40K in years I'm not getting back into it.

Boyes seems to be sadly getting out of its dip into stocking wargames stuff, lots of GW starter sets on sale. Lots of cheap PSC tanks too.
Re: What are people buying?
The first issue was worth getting, even if only because it came with 3 full sized pots of paint and a paintbrush for £1.99. I needed a pot of black so it was a handy thing to pick up. However it sold out quickly due to naughty resellersBuff Orpington wrote: ↑Sun Sep 30, 2018 1:53 pm I've just come across GW's new ploy. Warhammer Conquest. It appears to be a part work series with some rules, tips, painting guides etc and a box of figures one the front. It would be an expensive way of getting into 40K but this issue has 6 pox walkers and a pot of paint and I can always find a use for diseased minions of the Dark God's for £7.99
Re: What are people buying?
I managed to sneak into Firestorm Games during a training day in Cardiff yesterday, so picked up a few boxes of Cold War Cloggies (Team Yankee). As usual with FoW/TY stuff, there's the Good (fantastic model YPR-765 infantry carriers and M113 C&V recce vehicles), the Bad (er no, that's the wrong cupola for the YPR-765 OP variant*) and the Ugly (do they have half-trained gibbons casting the infantry? These are new moulds, FFS!)
If anyone's interested or if you just need to get to sleep; don't use the supplied M26 cupola for the YPR-765 artillery OP variant (the YPR-765 PRCO-C5). Use a spare standard M113 cupola instead (assuming that most people buying these will already have spare bits knocking around from FoW/TY plastic M113 APCs). I'll stick a post on the blog about which cupola to use for which version.

Re: What are people buying?
Is it just flash or is there some mould slippage? I got some TY Soviet placcy infantry the other day and I was impressed by the quality. Now I have figured out how to clean them up, that is (needle file, scraper followed by a dip in near boiling water to get rid of the furry bits).
Re: What are people buying?
Flash and bad moulding - 'discs' of metal around some of the figures, mis-moulded weapons and an NCO with an entire missing arm... Which is a shame, as the YPR-765 casting is superb, especially on the resin hulls and turrets, while the placky kits are exceptionally good. Battlefront Miniatures have generally always had bloody awful casting of their metal parts since their pre-FoW days.Zenbadger wrote: ↑Wed Oct 03, 2018 8:25 pmIs it just flash or is there some mould slippage? Ah, I thought all the new TY infantry was going to be plastic, I didn't realise they were metal. I agree, all the BF metal infantry is crap, worse than peter pig.
