The only thing that would put me off this is the tiny size of all the units. Otherwise, superb idea, well executed.

You don't notice it when playing. Also the figure size makes up for the small units and as GM said it fits with the ethos of the game and the rules.
The units could easily be enlarged to 15 or 16 figures without affecting the game mechanics, maybe even as many as 24. This will however make the game much longer and possibly less fun.

I find myself in the unusual position of totally agreeing with the furry one. It's absolutely not about 30 plus figure units, or historical simulation and any of that nonsense, and its wrong to approach it in those terms. It's entirely about having fun with toy soldiers.

Shiny will work for any scale or period, including science fiction (copy write, or is it right?). It's a state of mind.

And yet again, you have hit the nail right on the head. Peeler also made this point over the course of the weekend. I have thought this since I rekindled my neglected love of the Toy Soldier, after many years of denial and pretension. I feel I now have the modelling and painting skills to create/paint, and more importantly, afford the sort of toy soldiers the 10 year old me wanted and saw in his mind's eye.
