Re: First Taste of CoC...
Strange outcome today - I played French again, in a scenario where the Hun had to get two units past me & off my table edge to win.
He managed one, with a mad dash from his armoured car, but we had to call time before he could get anywhere near with a second unit.
At the end of the game, we “fast forwarded”, rolling his Pz.III movement against my ATR shots, and determined that - had we played on for another hour or so - he’d have made it off the table.
So we both got a sort-of win.
Apart from the vehicular drag-racing, I mauled his PBI unmercifully, getting by far the better of the affair.
We got no less than three double-turns in this game: two for the French & one for the Germans.
And bloody hell, they can take a long old time to resolve.

You could try banning loaded dice.

An hour - how big was the table, FFS? Failing that, why didn't you forget about nobbling the tank and just shoot the guys who were pushing it?Norman D. Table was six by five.
Problem was that he kept rolling command dice which didn’t include the 3 required to activate the tank, and I kept missing it with me poxy ATR.

Well, what a good job you speeded the game up!

You know you can add dice to make the 3? Or was that the problem?

Re: First Taste of CoC...
Yep. You need a 1 & a 2... he was rolling anything but.
Turned out the tank was moving maybe one round in two - and, on variable movement - was getting poor distance dice. Eventually he needed three activations to get off, which required six command rolls to achieve.
So... another six rounds, had we played it out.
The tank activation problem wasn’t just on his side, though - I was trying to bring a splendid Char Bis across the table to mess him up, but couldn’t activate it.

Re: First Taste of CoC...
So his dice rolled only 4s, 5s and 6s for six consecutive turns......
He doesn't hire them out, does he, 'cos I've got a tricky game coming up this weekend?

Re: First Taste of CoC...
What? Not at all - plenty of 1’s & 2’s in there, just not together in the same hand, and therefore not combinable.
Example: 1, 1, 4, 4, 5.
Tank’s going nowhere.
If you reckon those are exceptional dice, I’m sure he’ll entertain offers...

I don't know about exceptional - they just sounded a lot better than mine.
