Short answers: no and yes.
As Timmo will confirm, it is actually quite difficult to define what we mean by the "Cavalier type" since both sides had cavalry units that fitted the "mad dash and then off to plunder the baggage" stereotype; both sides could also have more controlled, disciplined cavalry, and both sides could equally have "crap" cavalry that ran away wearing increasingly smelly underpants. I suspect that the fundamental difference lay more in the quality of the leaders and the kind of direction they gave on the battlefield. The Roundhead Eastern Association was the first to develop properly drilled horse that could charge, rally or regroup, and then return to take an active part in the rest of the battle (these became known as "the ironsides"). This group produced Cromwell and Ireton as leaders and later formed the basis of the NMA's cavalry.
