Talking of next year, did the well lubricated committee finalise the choice of game?

18thC in principle, Buff, but the aim is to be inclusive. We hope to have a general theme for the weekend so that, whatever people choose to play, we take the results of those games and feed them into the scenario for a big 18thC Sunday game.

W2D and me will be working something up over the next couple of months and will report back in due course.

There was talk of adding a third day to the Ayton weekend.

I'll let Peeler pick that up and run with it.

From a personal point of view i'd be against that. It wouldn't be great for those who have to get back to work on tuesday and the costs would also start to escalate a bit beyond what might be acceptable.
However if the hall could be used on the monday for no extra cost it would offset the cost matter to some extent.

Yeah, I’d probably also just stick to the two days myself. Two days is just ‘right’ for me with regards to a Wargames weekend

I could do 3 days as I'll be here all week but I can see that it could be a problem for some of the others.

Perhaps in being silly but wouldn’t a third day better as being the Friday so we could miss out the terrible Friday traffic and come Thursday night or am I being gauche?

Love the 18th century linked games idea.

Tis a sound idea in principle Purps, afraid it wouldn't work for me as the cottage booking runs Friday to Friday. The Memsahib would object to dossing down in the hall.

Oh yes good point buff.

Well my early thoughts is I may do a small siege table, or a Sharp Practice naval landing on day one.
