The Memsahib has been trying to find all three volumes of John H Gill's '1809: Thunder on the Danube' for me for Chrimbo. However, while she can find new, hardback copies of Vols 1 & 2 for £26-£30, Vol 3 only seems to exist for in excess of £200!!!

She doesn't love me that much... :(

Or just get a Stanley knife and cut out any bits that are usually hidden by furniture in your house.

I've just taken delivery of a Cigar Box Battlemat too. It is the third Battlemat that I have bought recently, all from different manufacturers.
Like GM says, North Star do not keep them in stock but order them from the States once a month. Having spoken to their customer services last week I was told that they were just sending the last order in that would arrive before Christmas.
The mat itself is lovely, as said above it is a light felt material which drapes very well and looks quite natural laid over terrain pieces. It's well finished and I have no qualms about the quality. I went for the Grassland 2 design which looked great on the 'page' but is a bit too dark in the 'flesh' for my taste.

The other mats I have bought were from Deep Cut (Via Big Red Bat) and Tiny UK. Both of these were on lightweight cloth, which I don't like as much as much as the felt. However, I think the actual printed designs on those are better than the CBM one. The cloth is a bit stiffer than the felt (Deep Cuts really noticeably so), which means I don't find that it drapes as well.

To my eye by far and away the best design and printing is the Tiny UK mat, I bought the Arid with green patches one. I was a bit disappointed though that Tiny supply it with a raw cut and fraying edge which made it feel like a lower quality product.
The Tiny and CBM mats were around the same price with Deep Cut coming in cheaper.

I am still in the market for a smaller cobble effect one and may well go for Deep Cut as they offer quite good graphics and the potential of Mouse Mat type backing which for a flat area for laying on buildings would be the best bet..

I’ve actually got that Deep Cut cobble one and it is very good. And it was the Tiny Mat Arid Green I was thinking of, although with your comment on the edges I may opt for the mouse mat material or Tinys rubber backed equivalent (which I think I prefer anyway).

The Arid green design looks great, I can't post photos at the moment as I am working off a 0.1 MB/s Internet with very high latency :(

I was torn between these two:

http://www.tinywargames.co.uk/arid
(Arid Green at the bottom)
or
http://www.deepcutstudio.com/product/wa ... at-steppe/

as usable for Texas or Sicily. I think the Arid Green looks better?

I think it's the Steppe I have from Deep Cut (with 4" grid for various games) and i'd probably say the Tiny one is better for Texas not sure if Sicilly is a bit greener though. As before though i'd go for the Tiny one as in my, very very 'umble opinion, the graphic is better.
