Partizan spoils
Re: Partizan spoils
Looks like CB mirrored a lot of the purchases I made at Carronade.

Ah, glad it's not just me, I cannot get into Lardie games to save my life, they are all a bit "Emperor's New Clothes" to my mind. But I found "Rebels and Patriots" disappointing, in that, for a skirmish system, it completely ignores the effect and use of non Commissioned Officers, and relies entirely on one officer who is the star of the show. Something of an own goal I thought. The book has now gone into the discard/look at the pictures occasionally pile.
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.
Re: Partizan spoils
You are not alone Tim! Like the Perrys, TFL are much over hyped. Too much faffing about on areas I've no interest in. No doubt Phil & I will develop R&P to our taste. On a related note, I've given up on P&S for the ECW.
There is no point in being stupid if you don't show it!

Funny that. All three mentioned have built incredibly strong brand names in the Industry. Guess it proves the old adage, you can’t please all the people all the time.

I think it's more a case that we are spoiled for choice in our hobby, and some of us choose not to follow something because it is a "strong brand name", not always a guarantee of quality. I love the work of the Perry's, have done since I discovered them at the North London BMMS show back in 1979. But even they have a bad day now and then. I would rather celebrate the fact that our hobby is individualistic, and is a broad church rather than follow the beat of an over hyped drum.

I’m not sure people follow the beat of an over hyped drum. Or perhaps it’s just me because I certainly don’t. Being time poor, I’ll only invest and play something that appeals to me, not because it’s popular. Otherwise I would be in with you lot on the whole shiny toy era. Frankly, it leaves me cold. As you say, to each his own and celebrate the diversity.
