When putting other items over a geological map, it is customary to wash out the colours of the base. From the number of X chromosomes you have a 90% chance of guessing whether pale red becomes strawberry and pale orange becomes peach. And the same in Spanish.

I remember an argument amongst wargamers on one site or another about the precise colour that 'aurora' was, was being apparently a facing colour for a French Napoleonic unit. It's a pinky, orangy red, (supposedly the same shade as lobster bisque!).

I simply can't imagine Napoleonic wargamers arguing over such a trivial matter.

It's supposed to be the colour of the pre dawn sky.

Lobster bisque is about right. A little deeper.

which is a lovely, albeit unmilitary colour.

I've just purchased an opposing force for my VBCW rabbles. The Royalist cause will be represented by 30 Renegade WW1 infantry assisted by 4 Lewis gun teams.

Ha! The recipe for Aurore is for amateurs. Real Wellingtonic nerds have moved on to the recipe for Austrian 'Gris de Lin', which is often described as 'pale mauve', is often depicted as a sort of flesh-pink colour and according to most pigment charts is a pale, purplish grey...

If anyone knows for definite, please let me know... :hair:
