I agree with the postponement approach, it's a necessary evil but the only real option now. Once we are on the way out of the crisis we can plan a new event and ensure it's fittingly brilliant for the 10th Ayton.

I'm carrying on with my prep anyway - otherwise I'll just be shifting it to a new last-minute deadline rush!

Better safe than sorrry, especially when I'm near the top of list. That would be worse than seeing my Mexicans cannonaded.

VB's link made me giggle.

I believe that is called "setting the bar low".

For what it's worth, I suspect the hotel/catering industry situation will probably take the decision out of our hands anyway, but I am content to leave the decision in the hands of the collective, and would echo the thoughts about doing it right later, rather than half-cocked now, and looking after the more vulnerable in the group (and let's be honest, this one is going to need more robust precautions than the usual "stick a cork up Peeler's arse and hope it stays there all weekend").

Having seen what a large section of people think I reckon it's daft to expect it to go ahead as planned this year. I think we have several attendees who themselves fall into the 'at risk' categories and the uncertainty of the situation means that jumping off the train now, rather than waiting to be pushed by the Government and business closures is probably the best thing to do. It does however leave me deflated to say so :(

With you on that one entirely, Paul. For the first time in a long while, my April-June calendar was looking like Salute; Ayton weekend (first one ever) plus a visit to an old friend I haven't seen in 20 years; annual Perrys & Partizan 1 weekend; a Fife & Drum Forum weekend at Kenilworth. Locally, I had at least two all-day Saturdays arranged with fellow Wessex Wargames Society members in Southampton, and a Thursday night game every other week with my local gaming buddy. All now cancelled. It seems wrong to make a fuss over toy soldiers when people are dying, but that would have been a positive cornucopia of wargaming with several different lots of mates.

How is your missus doing, by the way.

At this stage Ayton, Guns n Roses concert, OML and DFL are all to be cancelled for me over a 5 week period. Plus RPG days in between.
