Day 2 - Bruce Catton - American Civil War. My first proper military history book.

My Airfix armies had a reason to fight using the basic rules from Charge.

If you can find an alternative to the machine gun grid, still an excellent set of ww2 rules.

Book One - Charge. The best book ever written. And it still smell great.
Book Two - 1815: The Armies at Waterloo, Ugo Pericoli. A truly awesome book.

I will have to add the Pericoli book to my book list.

Book 3 - American Heritage Pictorial Atlas of United States.

Not much of a cover but inside it has battlemaps by David Greenspan. You can spend hours wistfully looking at them. Here are few examples.

I remember those perspective views from a history of the Civil war. I always wanted to fight the battles with 1 6mm figure per man in the picture.

That’s the book! Don’t remember the cover but those maps! I’d pore over it in the school library every chance I got.
Even now I’d fancy having a go at building a game like that last image.
I get lockdown, but I get up again.
