I'm betting that at 55, and eligible for my Australian Public Service pension, I'm one of the young 'uns.. and I have my nephew; who occasionally plays, at 20.

Only 53, but the issue is more that, who would execute a will etc. Especially if it was sudden, rather than knowing it was in the offing where plans could be made.

Not so worried about the wargames stuff, but the reference library, that worries me.

You can issue instructions, well preferences really, to your executors. Of course, they are at liberty to ignore them completely, it isn't as if you'll find out.
Wills etc can be pretty complicated these days. Once it was enough to just say " 'Er indoors gets everything." We're in the process of getting ours updated. You have to look at things like Powers of Attorney for both health and financial issues. There are advantages in changing your house ownership arrangements to minimise the drain on your estate if one of you goes into care. We can't even go and get the new ones signed just now, try getting signatories and witnesses all together in one place.

Having only racked up my half century in January I've not given it much thought... but there are plenty of gamers locally I can bequeath it all to if need be.

As for what I'm buying.... having just lost an entire summers' worth of work the answer would currently be fuck all.

So it's time to make dents in the lead pile.
