What I am saying is that the 'instructions' Rich gives are nonsensical

Encapsulates my experiences perfectly of trying to read Lardies' rules. Their enduring popularity is a complete mystery to me.

I am not known for my love or liking of most sets of wargames rules, as they seem to suck all of the fun out of the whole thing. I have tried to understand the whole Lardie thing, and sat through a couple of games on Kings of War tv and am none the wiser on the attraction or even how they work. In short, they seem to me to be very much "The Emperor's New Clothes". Which probably explains my love of "A Gentlemen's War", "Laserblade" and the home grown knockabout rules Whisky and I use. Our whole ethos is that it should be fun, and enable your narrative to develop and not give a ton of brainache and be understood by an intelligent five year old, but most essentially fun, It's only playing with toy soldiers after all. All this pretentious "military history" nonsense is for the birds, embrace the play.

That’s the wonderful thing about this hobby of ours, people derive their enjoyment from so many different facets of it. For some, it’s the painting, for some it’s the look of the game, for some it’s the story the game tells whilst for others it’s all about the rules or learning the history whilst others enjoy getting together with great mates for an afternoon away from the family. There is no right or wrong, there is just Wargames at the end of the day. And I wouldn’t have it any other way

Without getting into the whole 'my rules are better' thang, my rules choices run the full spectrum of 'anal wargamers competition choice' to 'just house rule that if it doesn't work for you'. Currently being used from the shelf, Horse Foot & Guns for 6mm black powder stuff, (mainly WSS) Sharp Practice 2 for AWI & Nappies, Lion Rampant for medievals , DBMM2 for 15mm ancients, 'Crusader' for 28mm, Chain of Command for platoon scale WW2, Airfix battles rules for 15mm, What a Tanker, and waiting for the opportunity, 'Maurice' and then there's Polemos for FPW, ACW, ECW etc.

Never heard of tempered chocolate being used in a wargame before, but hey, if it floats your boat, go for it!

Desperately trying to use an eBay voucher, but keep buying stuff only to be told that the seller has miscounted his stock and doesn't have what I want any more (ironically, the very reason I was given the voucher in the first place!). So far, I've failed to buy: an extra large pair of sprue snippers, a box of Blitzkrieg plastic German infantry at £18, another box (different seller) at £20, and now a pair of 1:300 Fairmile Gunboats for Coastal Patrol.

I now have just 24 hours to find something I actually want that I can actually buy because the seller actually has it in stock.....

Given my dedication to finishing my 28mm ImagiNation stuff and the focus on finish projects for planned events (should they happen) I've just ordered a load of.... 15mm SF... As you do...

I did look for the SF equivalent of Fallschirmjaeger but there seems to be a gap in the market...

Going to try Zero Dark...
