I thin the Baron has the right of it BTW. Successful mass murder is traumatic for the murderers so you have to convince them that the victims are subhuman and after your sister (or gran, or whatever). This is commonly done by race or class.

No, but when I hired 30 of them to dig trenches on the condition that they did not have weapons or uniforms, all but one of them accepted. they were great chaps worked like slaves.

Then, a few years later when they ambushed our boats to kill the Indonesian Colonel who was our military escort, they accepted my explanation that the guy had gone home (he was taking a break in Jayapura) and we had a long chat over some tobacco and sheets of the Sydney Morning Herald (the preferred paper for roll your own). If I'd been Indonesian, perhaps the killing would have been easier, but I looked a bit Dutch.
