I think that you should paint your bases with that nice shade of pureed frozen lettuce that EB used on his shiny games table.

I made my choice for my preferred one....
And it was the one what I'd already been using. I'm happy again.

And since then, I've had a sleep and a cheese sandwich. And thought, nah, I'm not actually happy with that. It's too dark and sucks the soul out of the glossy figures. So off I trotted to Boyes and bought another half dozen green variants and more gloss varnish.
Tried them, compared them, and finally, eventually, after much discussion with myself and others, decided on vallejo 82 olive green. Quite deep but light enough to show off my decidedly average and shiney chaps. So there we are. I'm happy again.
