Oh, and talking of active, drying, tacky and curing, for some reason gloss varnish stays sticky on the base edge, for ages, after it's dried nicely on the base top.
Note to self - don't gloss the edges. Leave them alone. Gloss them not. Leave them painted but unglossed. That'll sort it and lessen those sticky fingers that no one wants.

Peeler, if the figures look odd with unvarnished base edges, lightly varnish three sides and tip the figures on their back, then when they are dry, tip the figure forwards and varnish the fourth edge.

If he's doing more police figures there is no need to varnish the last edge as they're going to be laying down for most of the game.

He could write appropriate words on the underside of their bases too - like 'blunder' and 'oops'

Thanks for the thought Grizz, I think the edges are looking OK unglossed, they're quite thin anyway.
As for the rest of you, I've noted your names, and the next time you're at Ayton, I'm booking you in for a half hour session with Gaynor in The Shed of Dread.
