I got my revenge the next Ayton when I fired my only ever successful musket volley that year. You and Paul were in a melee and my volley took out his men and then carried through to take out a few of yours also......the fact we were on the same side didnt diminish my glee.

Barry Hylton in his Republic to Empire rules had an interesting way of dealing with this and stopping people using their guns too often - a battery was allowed 4 shots before it had to leave the line to refit or resupply.

I do like GM's idea, you may start running low and it could deteriorate every time you use them. A nice element of uncertainty.

Somebody should me a clip of some reenactor's firing a cannon on YouTube. After a couple of shots you could see f*ck all because of the smoke. I know this not on the original thread but must have a major effect on accuracy and effectiveness.
