Plan for 2021 and beyond..

Post by tim.w »

So post mahoosive clear out I'm left with the armies and collections below. Not including an attic now crammed with 1/32 scale toy soldier goodies and three huge plastic boxes of scenery.

This sets the scene for my painting goals for 2021, if I get to pick a brush up. I've not as many projects as I'd thought I might have and its all looking much more manageable now, given I live in a tiny bungalow. The only thing I could put a game on with is my WWII but my goal is to have two sides worth in 42mm shiny and maybe medieval and ECW by the end of 2021. After all these decades I'm sad I've completed so little and been seduced by so many distractions. Hopefully no more! I can satisfy my buying addiction with adding to what I have on the go for now. Having said that, some old school 30mm SYW/WSS is a big temptation.

I'm hoping for lots more AGW in Aytons to come and hopefully a pointy sticky thing of sorts.

28mm WWII
42mm Shiny AGW
28mm Modern(ish) (Kumbahyah)
28mm Early Medieval/Crusades
28mm Napoleonic Prussian
25/28mm Generic Ancients/Hyborian (old school)
28mm Roman Republic
20mm WWII
15mm ECW

To get a participation game lined up for when shows resume - currently it’s Conan but it might be Vicky Gothick.
To have a drink in every bar in Edinburgh.
Finish 1 of the 5 medieval projects I’ve got on the go.
Finish another project, period immaterial.
I get lockdown, but I get up again.

Quite a pub crawl.

Saves you having to do a 2022 list (or any other year) though

I'd be happy to have a drink in every bar in Southern Chile.

I have simply got to get rid of the lead pile in 2021. At the beginning of December I will be listing and cataloguing everything on hand.

Projects I would particularly like to start or progress.....

20mm late 17thC - Austrians, Dutch and Turks - (never ending project)
30mm ACW (nearly complete)
28mm early 19thC Imaginations (not yet started)
Finish the Gateway (nearly there)
Start the Baltic League

Too many side projects to list.

Initial 2021 thoughts are
- Finish the ayton game scenery
- Finish my Greeks if I have failed to complete them (Current plan is all done by Dec 31)
- Do something with my spiffing new Mighty Fortress (TM)
- Then one of finish my DBN armies, refurbish and finish my 15mm ancients, finish my 10mm AWI
- Alongside this a smattering of fantasy stuff and sci fi stuff

As I expect we have all learned to our cost this year, no plan survives contact with the enemy - Corvid19 in this case. So, Plans, Whatsthepointofthem? Despite all this malarky I shall plod on (DV) with finishing my Punic Wars project and adding totally unnecessary units to my ACW and War of 1812 collections.
There is no point in being stupid if you don't show it!

Paint something. Anything.

Or glue something together. Ditto.

Maybe have a theme month - Bavarianuary perhaps?

Whatever I list it won't happen like that. Dwarfcember will see a big change in the fantasy backlog.

March of the Zombies in March

Progress my force for Ayton until I have enough, or it is cancelled.

Kumbayah, troops and trucks for the KLF.

Shiney for AGW
