I thought EB had been pretty clear on that?
Albeit on the now locked Tapatalk forum.
"The Osprey Honours of War rules were suggested as a worthy alternative to Shot, Steel and Stone and so, emboldened by all this talk of trying something different, we'll be using those rules in 2018."

Ah yes, that’s right, the ‘fait accompli’ conversation I wasn’t involved in, which is what triggered my thoughts about whether to be involved or not in the first place.
Thanks for the clarification.

I'm obviously not party to the ongoing chats but that was my understanding when I left things.
Sorry, didn't mean my comment to sound so blunt

Re: Ayton 2018 18th Century Campaign & Games
Don’t worry Paul, this whole thing appears to be based on misunderstandings anyway. There was a whole discussion at some point in 2017 which appears to have simply vanished. Was that on the Tapatalk thing?
I’ll get back to everyone on this, because if we’re not using my rules (which, for whatever reason Ithought we were now going to be), and few people appear to be interested in raising/commanding native troops, then there’s no point me using the Dahlia/Chindrastan setting for the campaign or weekend. As it is, fitting everyone’s armies into the Wars of the Faltenian Succession narrative is tricky enough, but at least if I give it a ‘Europian’ setting it seems less incongrous. It also eliminates the need to rustle up exotic terrain.
Of couse, there’s no need to do any of that background stuff and we could just turn up and have a couple of days of ginormous duff-ups, but the setting was intended to be hordes of native types fending off westerners, so I need to do some head-scratching.
Also, I’ve never played HoW so there’s no point me umpiring and I could just bring some troops and play – maybe commanding the native side if we keep that setting, but clearly I’ll have to recycle casualties.
Final point, as I have no isea – does HoW even cover colonial conflict?

HoW is mainly based around SYW in Europe but is easily adaptable.
I am enthusiastically involved with the ACW/Modern games otherwise I would volunteer to run the campaign/setting in my Iffian background to give you a chance to play.
I have to say I would like to see you freed of the hassle and able to kick back a bit more but that would need someone else to take on the campaign reigns!

If a colonial style setting is being considered, I would be quite happy to offer the use of my "Native contingents. They are just hanging around the house, claiming to be seeking gainful employment.
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.

I’m happy to leave the campaign side out if it means Henry can bring some toys and push them round the table

Re: Ayton 2018 18th Century Campaign & Games
Thanks Tim –– there are also my Shot, Steel & Stone that we used for byzarbia, don't forget (and who can forget Peeler's elephant candle-holders...). But so far, the number of 'native' types coming is tiny, though GaryP mentioned to me that he apparently has a large number of Zulu/Mahdist types (wrong continent).
I think it will be better if I concoct an excuse for us to fight in the Europian setting or even elsewhere and I'll begin a collection of vast numbers of Indian/Afghan types for another time. Perhaps we should get Peeler to prepare for the defence of Aytonia? After all, he's had it too easy up until now.

What about the 'New World' It could be largely European, African type troops and even Asian types can be justified and the Counts troops will finally be in the right continent
So everything people have already done would work and a quick background outline would probably suffice?

Yeah, that's certainly a possibility. Trumpia. It has the biggest, baddest natives. Ever. Nobody's natives are as big and bad as ours. And they all have big hands. Yuuuuuuuuge hands. Our hands are the biggest hands you've ever seen. Holding the biggest spears. Have you seen our spears? Yuuuuuge!Paul wrote: ↑Wed Feb 14, 2018 4:47 pm What about the 'New World' It could be largely European, African type troops and even Asian types can be justified and the Counts troops will finally be in the right continent
