Limiting ammo is very realistic, but a pain in the arse. I prefer to see ROF (or hit probability) reduced to something reasonable, and range limits to stop people blazing away at ballisticaly possible but ineffective ranges. Also, apropos my earlier comment, restricting range reduces the ability of artillery to concentrate fire.

I agree with the Bear. Rules that limit firing range to what troops were trained to fire over and not blazing away to conserve energy will sort out all these issues
