G'day. Found Hagen-Miniaturen https://www.hagen-miniatures.de/test-ca ... years-war/ when looking for a book. You probably already know of them, but they include such oddities as the Grassins and Schaumberg-Lippe Carabiniers as well as Russian, French and Prussian artillery, etc, so thought they may be of interest. I don't know if they are compatible with the plastics ranges.

The legs of those horses look worryingly accurate in terms of scale - you wouldn't want to drop them down a flight of stairs, for example.

Do you often do that to your figures, vW? I know what you mean, though- the two poses on the right of the photo do not look wargame table-friendly at all. But they're the first S-L Carabiniers I've seen that are smaller than 54mm, and probably unique in the usual 2mm-40mm gaming scales. The artillery figures and guns will be welcome to Ochoin, Willz, etc- except perhaps for the prices.

I know the chap who runs Hagen. Uwe Wild. He's an enthusiast of epic proportions. I have a few of their figures (notably a Fred.theG. figure) but the price + P&P makes them very expensive. I'm tempted by their French hussars & if Russians ever become possible, I'll probably bite the accountant & buy some guns & crews. At the moment, though, I think spare cash needs to go to luxuries such as food & petrol.

I should say the metal they're cast in is very strong & I wouldn't worry too much about breakages.

Thanks for that info, mate. Some recent buys (from a couple of different makers) have had a soft, almost solder alloy, metal and didn't travel well.

My beloved 86 takes 98 octane. This does make it a somewhat expensive ride.

My KIA can take 95 if I can find any. Not many pumps and most of them "out of order" in the wilds of the NSW south coast. I have to do a run to western Vic next week (granddaughter's 2nd birthday), which will hurt the hobby budget.

I've been playing toy soldiers this week with some of Uwe's products. They're true 1/72, so 25mm, and they are indeed very robust castings - even if slim and fragile in appearance.
