Re: What's on your workbench?
First shiny Prussian is finished. I bought a few of the Irregular FPW range originally but I didn't like them much, the STS are so much nicer.
Re: What's on your workbench?
Just trying to clean up some Oddzial Ozmy 15mm Cold War Polish infantry and am wondering what metal they're cast in... Unobtainium...? Duranium...? I'm assuming that they're made from melted-down penetrator rounds?

They are apparently some bizarre alloy and if treated poorly can sort of disintegrate.

Re: What's on your workbench?
I believe it's a zinc alloy akin to monkey metal.
Re: What's on your workbench?
Cheers guys. Zinc was my guess as well - it was a bit alarming when casting-runners simply snapped off instead of bending. I'm being VERY careful with the rifle-barrels...
Last time I encountered strange casting-metal was Thunderbolt Mountain Miniatures (remember them?). They did some exquisite mediaeval knights in tournament kit, but by god were they difficult to clean up! That was a much tougher metal than the OO figures.

Odzial Osmy Figures are an Aluminium/Zinc alloy as they say lead based alloys won't take the detail at the 'pico' scales.

I'm surprised that Al/Zn is even stable. Get them cleaned with windex and undercoated with Humbrol Matt White.

Wear a white oversuit & appropriate gas mask too, by the sounds of it.

You can't cut em but they will take filing and clipping well.
