You've seen my listings thenBuff Redux wrote: ↑Sun Aug 28, 2022 4:12 pm When you get a seller with no real idea of the value of his stuff or which category to list it in and you see pages of the same overpriced dross come up week after week.
How I price things is to look at the previously SOLD prices of items i'm selling and start them off at around 50% of that.
Sometime there are no sold items that are identical so you then have to rely on similar sold items or ones currently being offered.
I've got any item on at the moment that has a somewhat speculative starting price but I thought i'd try it as it is still only at 30% of the only other one being offered on Ebay and I have no idea if that seller has a better grasp of what it's actually worth or is just a fantascist!
Re: Selling figures on Ebay
Settings, you say? I didn't realise it had them.
My rubbish gets automatically relisted with no 10% drop. I put it all in the "Other Figures" category & make sure it says the period (eg ECW), wargaming & figure size (1/72 & 20mm) in the header to help with searches.
I do auction + Buy it now. No one has ever paid the Buy it Now fee. I experimented with Free Postage but now don't bother.
I should say IMO, Ebay fees are OK but Australia Post is a rip-off.

I'm interested to read all of this as I think I'm going to have to sell some stuff to make room
How do you calculate P&P - I'm afraid to use ebay as NZ is such a small market and I would imagine postage elsewhere to be prohibitive

Re: Selling figures on Ebay
Ebay calculates the P&P for me. A unit goes into a small box, costing $9.30 to send, anything more goes into a medium box which AP charges $13.70 for. This is for Australia wide. I actually don't think it's much more to send to NZ. I've had a couple of inquiries from NZ but my OZ customers suffice.
Up to you but I avoid Express Post & insurance. These will blow the budget. I think you can put in your own calculations but if these exceed the standard Ebay charges, IMO you'll lose customers.
It's imperative that you avoid buying packing material as this will blow out the costs & put you in the red with P&P. So start collecting boxes, bubble wrap etc from any purchases you are currently making.
The big issue is the size of box you need for painted & based figures doesn't really exist. It needs to be sturdy, have a large base but not much height....no such animal. So you end up sending figures in boxes bigger than they need with the incumbent charges.
I hope this helps.

Re: Selling figures on Ebay
Do you not have a first born? Selling your figures seems so ................. heartless
Re: Selling figures on Ebay
I keep records but I haven't checked recently - I've sold a few less than 2000 "newborns".I probably still have way in excess of 5000 figures.
I'm close to being finished....unless I take it to the next level. For example, I have extensive AZW AND Sudan war armies.
Do I really need to cover TWO Colonial periods? I have late war British AND Americans. Why do I need both? etc.
I'm not sure I want to go to that level of filicide but you never know.
