Cheers! Yes, they did get a rush of blood to the sabre, but it worked for them this time. I doubt they'll be as lucky if they try it again!
No, I've never been to that one. I've been to the 9/12L museum in Derby though.

That's a pity. They're practically next door, mate- less than 40 miles away. Is the 9/12 worth a visit?
If "The System" is the answer, who asked such a bloody stupid question?
Re: The Battle of White Plains 1776
Always too busy when we're up there, as it's the Memsahib's home turf. People to see, things to do...
Nah, not really. As with a lot of regimental museums, it's the bare bones of a once-larger collection, stuffed into a corner of the city museum.

Thanks, Mark, I know what you mean. I'll give it a miss. There seems to be a lot of that about here as well. What good are museums, anyway, especially if a nice developer could use the building's grounds? Or removing the museum and display area could make space for 80 more poker machines?

One interesting thing the Derby museum does have is the complete wood-paneled room that Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed in when he reached Derby (removed from a pub down the road).Spanner wrote: ↑Sun Sep 04, 2022 12:40 pm Thanks, Mark, I know what you mean. Nice game RMD, struck a blow against those tax evaders.
Re: The Battle of White Plains 1776
Cheers, though sadly I was the Duty Tax-Evader...

Are they still displaying that "American Revolution-era coat" that looks amazingly like a late-Regency/early-Victorian Yeomanry uniform?

RMD, Interesting, but not worth going out of my way to see, despite what the 1/4 of me that's Scot thinks
BvR,
Cheers.
BvR,
I've just been through the photos and no, mate, it wasn't on display in October 2019. All the artifacts in the display cases (and most on walls, tables and manikins) were well identified and, where appropriate, were identified as replicas and facsimiles (at least sometimes). Here's the description plate for items on display in the late C18 case. Are they still displaying that "American Revolution-era coat" that looks amazingly like a late-Regency/early-Victorian Yeomanry uniform?
Cheers.
