Plus the infantry won it after Fred quit the field, thinking he'd lost. Also I'd consider down-grading the Prussian cavalry, if it isn't already, for this battle. It took over two years, a few sacked officers and a couple of units being stripped of guard privileges to get the cavalry battle worthy. If playing with generalship ratings, I'd also make Fred a 'Poor' and only give him 2 ADCs instead of his customary 3. This battle was won by his infantry in spite of the King, rather than because of him!

Good choice Donald, I am honoured that you are going for Molwitz.ochoin wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 8:27 am Thanks.
Mollwitz seems like a pretty straight forward game so I'm going with that.
I know Mark's done it too & an AAP is on his blog.
I quite like the idea of putting a bunch of Prussian cavalry on the wrong side of a river & seeing my pals frantically trying to recall them over a (presumably) narrow bridge.

Looking forward to the game report.

Re: SYW game? Suggestions required.
The game is tomorrow. I've read accounts, looked at wargames' versions & decided on a few parameters for the game.
1. The armies will be reduced to manageable numbers using the Charles Grant method. The important part is keeping the ratios of foot, horse & gun the same as the historical OOB.
2. Making all Austrian line infantry & all Prussian cavalry Second Rate. This means, in the TRICORNE rules that such units will fight well enough but probably won't have staying power.
3. Instructions to both sides (including 2. above) include full disclosure of the enemies' instructions. Evidently, not too many secrets for this campaign.
4. Time limit. With the Prussian artillery superiority, there's a chance they might act defensively/slowly. A set & limited number of turns will motivate them to act aggressively.
I'm co-commander of the Austrians & looking forward to smacking those pesky Prussians around.
