Vapnartak 2023

Post by Essex Boy »

It seems that every year I post a comment about how absolutely rubbish the organisers of Vapnartak are at promoting their event. I don't mean it harshly........but they are crap at letting people know what's what.

Then, almost immediately, the Goat pops up any points an accusing finger at me and says something like 'it's all on Facebook'. So, let's see what happens this year...............

Does anyone know if Vapnartak is going ahead in 2023 and, if so, on what date and, can they point me at an official announcement?

I thank you.

Ah the "in your facebook generation," I find it strange that a certain number of wargame shows or businesses only do facebook and then bemoan that they do not attract enough customers.
I do not do facebook as I can't be bothered, so any wargame show or wargame who only advertise on this platform does not get my custom or monies.
As I am over 60 they are probably losing out on at least 25 years of custom going forward, not to mention at least 10 years lost custom from the past.

I'm sure it's on but the website gives no date and says it's just being planned. For such a big event that's only a few months away it is a bit shit...

Hello Tim,

Yep, but as Andy says, there's nothing official....no publicity at all...and York Racecourse don't have it listed as an event.

Maybe sorting a new venue? I havent been to the club in ages but could ask around. The Racecourse is eye wateringly expensive but there are very few big venues in York if they are looking to move. Possibly only the Uni could come anywhere close. I hope it doesnt go back to the Merchant Adventurers Hall.

Thanks Tim. Please don't bother on my account. I sent the club a message on FB asking about stuff. I'm sure all will become clear.

I've only been to the Racecourse.

I'm another of those who don't 'do' Facebook (or Meta, or whatever Zuckerberg has decided to call it this week) - mainly because I am one of those who can't resist sharing home truths, which gets me in trouble, so it's just better I stay away.

But York is do'able from Scotland, so it is one of the shows I keep meaning to get to.
