IIRC someone brought red & blue grenzers or pandours with cloaks to the first Ayton. They were swiftly christened "Freddie Mecrury's Own".
LoL. I was thinking the red cloaks with yellow trimming made them look a bit like Superman.....though given the dark tone some posts (above) have taken, a mention of "supermen" is probably not welcome.

BTW is it OK to forgive the current Croatians for their Nazi past, given it's the great grand children of the original swastika-lovers who now populate the place?
I mean I've nearly forgiven the Sassenachs for Flodden.

The Jugs are all funny people. If there is a race that could rise above genocide by the master race and the try to outdo them, to their own kind, it is the Jugs.
I used to throw them out of a Wollongong pub for a while. Nice people, but a little on the fierce side. I believe the Romans felt the same way.
Did you have much to do with Hungarians? My second wife was Hungarian.. and I got to know the community pretty well ..
Palinka, pride and fierce. Good people, but if you think the Italians originated vendetta, you ain't met Hungarians. (and a five year girlfriend was Calabrese).
They also have some truly epic cursing... one loose translation is 'a filthy cum bucket'.

I once took out five or six Hungarian business men for the evening from work. Not a lot of memories except a truly great evening, being taught a sabre flick I never knew and for 20 years a bottle of finest slivovitch at christmas. I still have no memory of entertaining the Finns, other than years later the hostelries still remembered our visit!

Not slivovitz, cherry brandy is Palinka... and my only story about Finns is about a small Finnish place not far from Tampere, and at the bar with a vodka, trying to strike up a conversation with the only other bloke in the bar, and the response being: 'are you here to talk or are you here to drink?'

Having just finished a 14 figure Banal unit (red & blue uniforms), I'm now painting the rest as a 12 figure Sankt George (white & green) unit.
I've been pouring over Kronoskaf, Charles Grants' 'Wargaming in History Vol 1'* & other sources on the topic. It's fascinating.
Sad that no one has produced affordable & well sculpted figures of Grenz in my scale.
