I remember that day well, Mark. It was early in the year and the trees were largely leafless making everything quite visible and everywhere easy to navigate.

I went again a few years later in mid summer and the foliage made everything, especially getting onto the Homolka, much harder (the rough track we used between Lobositz and the mound has gone now under new housing). With trees in full leaf the roads behind the Homolka become a labyrinth. Also, that quiet road between the Homolka and the Lobosch (pictured above) is now a busy dual carriageway (from memory) bringing in the new east / west traffic. If you remember, we went the week they became part of the EU and they have received lots of investment for infrastructure projects since. The battlefield is much changed and, for the wargamer, not for the better.
