Buy an antique anglepoise for £500 and then put a £3 bulb in it.

I’ve got my fathers old one. Must be nearly as old as I am. Still works well though

I have 2 anglepoise lamps, one on each side of my painting area. Both were 'liberated' from the discard piles at a previous employment. One has a normal 40W bulb and the other a small halogen light thingy. Never had any probs with either of them except for the occasional bulb change.

I have three of the smaller ones, they adjust only in one angle. They were £20 each.

I've been using the same desk lamp for the past twelve years, and commend Goat Major on his excellent taste.
The clarity of colour perception which results from using the 2x15" Daylight tubes will completely change your painting.
