My last post just disappeared. Its quite amazing that this thread has become serious. Has the trauma of the move knocked everyone sensible ?

Daler Rowney soluble matt varnish is the best i've ever used. Better than W&N in my opinion,. Strangely for an acrylic you thin it with white spirit though.

I've found you can get away without varnishing on plastic figures as the paint bonds quite strongly to them. I'm not sure i could cope without varnishing metals though

Oh, that was a landmark article, martin, which an annoying number of of people appear to have missed. Or forgotten,. Or ignored. Personally, I think we should fine them £10 each.

I like the Winsor & Newton Galleria range. Comes in gloss, satin & matt.

I use white spirit to thin the varnish. Do you see extra benefits with the turps?

It depends how much of it he drinks...

I've been doing it all wrong then as I've been bathing in it and putting it on my cornflakes

It's a more powerful solvent than turps. Can even be applied 48 hrs after to re-dissolve frosting.
